Gum Treatment

At our clinic, we offer a range of gum treatments to help maintain healthy gums, prevent gum disease, and restore the appearance of your smile.

Whether you’re dealing with mild gum issues or more advanced conditions, we have solutions tailored to your needs.

Non-Surgical Gum Treatments

These treatments are ideal for early-stage gum disease or mild gum inflammation:

Professional Cleaning (Scaling & Polishing)

Removes plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth and gums, helping to prevent gum disease and restore gum health.

Root Planing

After scaling, this treatment smooths the roots of your teeth to remove plaque and tartar, reducing inflammation and helping your gums reattach.

Antibiotics or Antiseptic Treatments

We may use antibiotic gels or mouthwashes directly on your gums to reduce infection and inflammation. In some cases, oral antibiotics may be prescribed for severe infections.

Surgical Gum Treatments

For more advanced gum disease or gum recession, surgery may be needed:

Gingival Flap Surgery

Lifting back the gums to clean deep pockets and remove infection that couldn’t be treated with non-surgical methods.

Bone Grafting

If bone loss has occurred, bone grafting helps rebuild lost bone around your teeth to support healthy gums.

Soft Tissue Grafting

A procedure to restore receded gums using tissue from your palate or a donor to cover exposed tooth roots and improve gum health.

Crown Lengthening

This procedure removes gum tissue and possibly bone to expose more tooth structure, allowing for better-fitting crowns or bridges.

Cosmetic Gum Treatments

These treatments focus on improving the appearance of your gums and smile:

Gum Contouring or Gum Reshaping

Removes excess gum tissue to correct a “gummy smile” or create a more balanced gum line for a better-looking smile by laser or botox.

Laser Gum Treatment

A minimally invasive method using a dental laser to remove diseased gum tissue, reduce bacteria, and promote healing with less pain and bleeding.

Preventive Gum Treatments

Regular care can help prevent gum disease and keep your gums healthy:

Regular Professional Cleanings

Regular cleanings every 6 months help remove plaque and tartar, preventing gum disease and maintaining overall oral health.

Oral Hygiene Education

We provide tips on proper brushing, flossing, and mouthwash use to help prevent plaque buildup and gum problems.

Antibacterial Mouthwash

For individuals prone to gum disease, we may recommend antibacterial mouthwashes to reduce bacteria and inflammation.

These treatments are generally regarded as highly safe, with the primary risk being a potential infection due to gum procedures, rather than from periodontal disease itself.

Gum therapy is generally well-tolerated, though some discomfort may occur. Pain levels vary based on the severity of gum disease and individual pain tolerance, but the procedure remains manageable for most patients.

The extent of gum correction needed depends on gum health, with deep cleaning procedures typically lasting one to two hours. If treatment exceeds two hours, dentists often schedule multiple sessions to ensure thorough care and patient comfort.

For the first 48 hours post-surgery, patients should follow a liquid diet. After this period, soft foods can be gradually reintroduced. Most individuals resume their regular diet within approximately two weeks.
